About The Project
The Fast Company “Innovation Unbound Festival” is a celebration of innovation and creativity by featuring leaders in business, entertainment, media, and beyond. The festival hosts 4 days of inspired conversation, purposeful networking, and meaningful takeaways. This project harnesses the power of typography to introduce the viewer to three pioneering speakers at the festival who are at the forefront of integrating physical and mental health into the workplace.
The carefully curated typeface designs not only spells out the speakers’ names and topics but also express the specifics of the necessary information about the Festival itself. Both typefaces were selected to resonate with all three speakers’ commitment to fostering well-being in the workplace and each poster design centers around a key word taken from the speaker’s talk description and crafted to encapsulate the essence of the topic.
In the first poster, the word “space” takes prominence, representing the concept of a “creative space.” Its typographic design fills the page, with a flourish of dynamic ligatures that evoke openness and creativity. The second poster focuses on the word “movement,” symbolizing energy and dynamism. Rather than presenting the word as a whole, it cleverly breaks it into fragmented sections, that look as if they are vibrating with motion. Finally, the third design communicates “mental clarity.” Initially, the letters appear jumbled and chaotic, but as the viewer reads the phrase, they gradually transform into clear letterforms, reinforcing the idea of clarity and understanding.
The greatest challenge of this project lay in harnessing solely typography to craft designs that convey a strong visual message, without the use of any additional imagery. Nevertheless, the challenge was overcome through the creation of unique and expressive typographic designs combined with the careful selection of typefaces. Ultimately this combination led to the three final promotional posters that are not only engaging and enjoyable but also resonate with the professional context and desired target audience.
